South Korea's COVID-19 Numbers Continue To Drop

#15,070

A week ago, South Korea appeared on the cusp of an unmanageable COVID-19 epidemic, reporting between 600 and 800 new cases each day.  But after stumbling out of the gate early in their response, they declared `war' on the virus, and have managed to greatly reduce the spread of the virus.
Whether they are winning the war, or merely prevailed in the first skirmish, is hard to say.  But today's 0900 hrs report from South Korea - which adds only 131 new cases - is the lowest daily increase we've seen in the past two weeks.
South Korea's totals are now 7,513 cases, and 54 deaths.  According to their CDC, 80% of all cases have been linked to clusters, and not community spread, which may have made it easier to slow their epidemic by aggressive contact tracing, quarantines, and testing.

Regardless, this does show that even an out-of-control epidemic can still be slowed by the right response.
