CDC COCA Call Tuesday: Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome in Children (MIS-C)

#15,268

Three weeks ago the first alert went out - issued by the UK's NHS - on a newly recognized inflammatory syndrome in children which has been tentatively and temporally linked to COVID-19 (see PICS: NHS Alert On Possible Severe Pediatric COVID-19 Complication).
Since then we've seen numerous reports - both in the UK and in New York State - of dozens of children in intensive care units, and even a few deaths.
Late last week the CDC released a HAN Advisory (see CDC HAN: Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome In Children (MIS-C)), instructing doctors across the nation on how recognize and report the condition and in the past few days we've seen a Rapid Risk Assessment from the ECDC and a Scientific Brief from the WHO

On Tuesday of this week, the CDC will hold a  COCA (Clinician Outreach & Communication Activity) Call - essentially a 1 hour webinar for healthcare professionals -  on recognizing and reporting this syndrome.
These presentations are heavily attended, often technical in nature - and are of greatest interest to clinicians and healthcare providers - but also may be of interest to the general public.
Since many people are unable to carve time from their schedule to watch them in real time, the CDC archives these broadcasts for later viewing.

Overview
During this COCA call, clinicians will learn about the clinical characteristics of multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children, how cases have been diagnosed and treated, and how clinicians are responding to recently reported cases associated with COVID-19.
