CDC COVID-19 COCA Call: Infection Prevention & Control In Nursing Homes

#15,324

Although COVID-19 can affect anyone, anywhere, it is deadliest among the elderly and those with severe comorbidities - particularly those who live in LTCFs (Long Term Care Facilities) or nursing homes (see March 2000's  MMWR: Severe Outcomes Among Patients with COVID-19 - United States and MMWR: COVID-19 in a Long-Term Care Facility - COCA Call Online).
According to the CDC, there are about 8 million Americans living in LTCFs of varying types around the country.
Less than a month ago, in GAO Report: Infection Control Deficiencies In Nursing Homes (Prior to COVID-19)we looked at some of the longstanding challenges the industry has faced in preventing HAIs (Hospital Acquired Infections).

Later today (June 16th) the CDC will hold a COCA Call for Nursing Homes on how to reduce the spread of COVID-19 in their facilities.
COCA Calls are generally heavily attended and are of greatest interest to clinicians and healthcare providers. If you have trouble getting through - or are unable to attend the live session - the CDC archives these broadcasts for later viewing.
