COCA Call Tomorrow (March 2nd): Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen COVID-19 Vaccine

On Saturday, Feb 27th, the FDA Issued An Emergency Use Authorization for A Third COVID-19 Vaccine, manufactured by Johnson & Johnson. Unlike the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines, the Janssen vaccine has the advantage of only requiring a single dose. 

With this new option expected to be available within a week or so, the CDC will hold a COCA Call on Tuesday afternoon on this newest vaccine. 

These presentations are often technical, and are of greatest interest to clinicians and healthcare providers, but also may be of interest to the general public.

Overview

This COCA Call will give clinicians an overview of the J&J Janssen COVID-19 vaccine. Clinicians will learn about vaccine characteristics and administration, vaccinating special populations, and contraindications. They will also get answers to a number of clinical questions CDC has received about this new vaccine.
