Even without the added burden of the Omicron variant, COVID-19 rates have been steadily rising over the past few months in much of Europe, and more recently in South Korea. The UK, is no exception, and yesterday they hit their highest daily total (n=53,945) since July 17th (n=54,574).
The UK, Denmark, and Germany have been clustered together in terms of the number of cases per 1,000,000 people for quite some time, but are running at roughly half the rate of the Netherlands and Austria.
In Europe Slovakia, Czechia, and Belgium (not shown) currently have the highest rate of infection. All of this is subject to change as the Omicron variant invariably spreads around the globe.
