Starting off the new week the USDA has added 30 more infected herds from California, bringing their total to 233 - an increase over 70% over the past 10 days. California's Public Health Department hasn't updated their count of human cases since Nov. 1st, and so that count remains at 19.
Utah's 8 infected herds have now been added to the list as well, making them the 15th state to confirm H5 in Cattle. At least 442 herds have tested positive, although this is likely a substantial undercount.
For now, the CDC's official case list sits at 41 human infection in 2024 (see below), but that is subject to change in the hours and days ahead.
