NHC: Florence About To Make Landfall - Key Messages

It's been an incredibly long night for the coastal residents of the Carolinas, and Florence - still packing winds near 90 MPH - threatens to remain a hurricane for another 12 hours.    
Some of the storm's threats, such as inland flooding, may not peak for several days. 
Video streaming from storm chasers on YouTube show varying degrees of light to moderate damage but many of the hardest hit areas are still inaccessible.
Many areas have only seen offshore winds, which can change to onshore once the eye passes. High tide comes around noon, and so there is still a long day ahead for many residents.
