The Return of The Wiki
After 3 long weeks of technical problems, the FluWiki is back up and running. The url has changed, so reset your bookmarks. Posting is a little slow, as word has not filtered out to all members.
It's been a tough few weeks, and Dem, Melanie, Revere, and Pogge who run the FluWiki have all performed a hurculean task in getting it back up and running again.
For those who have not been to the Wiki, it is a hybrid site. One half is a discussion forum, while the other half is a member maintained repository of Flu information.
For those who are interested in the hard science behind the flu, with a dash of speculation, and a certain amount of preparedness talk, the wiki is an excellent resource. It is routinely visited by doctors and scientists. No guns or self defense talk, tho. I rank it right up there among my top couple of sites to visit.
My other favorite is Plan For Pandemic, which while certainly fact based, is a bit more newbie friendly. This forum is only 3 weeks old, but is growing rapidly and is very well run. It features a lively chat room, lot's of articles, the latest news, and a very supportive membership.
For most people, Plan For Pandemic should be their first stop.
A third site, and a sister site to PFP, is H5N1 A SANE APPROACH, which can be linked to from the PFP site. While not as active as it's bigger sister, it too is a good place for flunatics to get started.
While there are other flu forums on the net, many of which provide excellent content, for my readers I would recommend Plan For Pandemic and Fluwiki to begin your journey of exploration.
In any event, when you join, tell them Fla_Medic sent you.
