Resources on The Web

As both of my regular readers are aware, I occasionally direct them to other sites where they can glean additional information on avian flu. I've spoken highly of Fluwikie (back up again) and Plan for Pandemic.

For those who want an admittedly heavily science oriented blog to visit, there is none finer than Effect Measure. Written by several public health officials, under the name Revere, this blog provides the technical details behind the potential avian flu threat. I visit each and every day, and I trust these guys.

Occasionally, they write on other public health matters, and they are critical of the Bush Administration. But these days, who isn't? Anyway, if you want a heavy dose of reality from people on the inside of the public health system, I heartily recommend it.

Speaking of Plan for Pandemic, this new forum will turn 1 month old on Wednesday. In that short period of time, it has attracted nearly 100 members and now boasts nearly (as of this writing) 4200 posts. The chat room is active much of the day and night.

Check out some of the excellent articles there, written by the members. I have even contributed some modest efforts.

Are you interested in how to set up a solar panel? Or how to design a sick room? Or how to deal with a heart attack? Or maybe you are wondering just how many ways there are to prepare rice and beans. You will find articles on these, and many other subjects free for your inspection.

You are of course, invited to join, and contribute. We have a large, and growing cyber community. We are stronger when we work together, and you will find the support system it provides to be invaluable.
