Another Indonesian Suspect Case

Tests are pending, but the symptoms and the location both point to another possible H5N1 infection.  As always, we will have to await the results of the testing to know for sure.

 

 

 

 

Indonesian woman dies of suspected bird flu

Jakarta (VNA) - A 44-year-old woman died early on October 5 after showing bird flu symptoms such as high fever, coughing and breathing difficulties at a hospital in the Indonesian province of Riau.

 

"The patient was admitted to the hospital in the afternoon of October 4," Dr. Azizman Saad at the Arifin Achamd hospital in Riau said.


Blood and tissue samples from the victim have been sent for testing in Jakarta, he added.

 

If confirmed, the latest casualty will bring total bird flu death toll in the country to 87, higher than any other country in the world.-Enditem
