Indonesian Health Minister Dies

Not unexpectedly, overnight we’ve received news of the death of Indonesian Health Minister Endang Rahayu Sedyaningsih, who tendered her resignation last week due to declining health. She had been under treatment for lung cancer since 2010.

 

Since replacing the logic-challenged former Health Minister Siti Fadilah Supari in 2009, Health Minister Endang signed a virus sharing deal with the World Health Organization and has made small, but visible improvements in her country’s public reporting on H5N1 cases.

 

The Indonesian media has numerous reports today on her passing, including.

 

 

 

Thus far, no word on who will take over the reins of the Indonesian Ministry of Health.
