H7N9: Jiangsu Province Adds Two Cases, China Total 35

It is early evening in China and local provinces are starting to post their new H7N9 updates on their Health Department websites.   First to report is Jiangsu Province, with the following announcement.

 

 

Jiangsu Province 2 new cases of human infection of H7N9 avian influenza confirmed cases

Health Department of Jiangsu Province, April 11 Bulletin, Jiangsu Province, the new confirmed cases of human infection of H7N9 avian influenza.

 

Patients surnamed Yin, male, 31 years old, now a hotel in Yangzhou City in chefs work. Today’s announcement brings the total number of cases reported in Jiangsu Province to 12, exceeded only by Shanghai (with 15 cases)  in numbers.

 

While the case counts continue to increase, officials continue to report no signs of efficient, or ongoing, human-to-human transmission.  

 

This latest report brings China’s H7N9 outbreak up to 35 cases, with 9 fatalities.
