Over the past couple of weeks we’ve seen a small avalanche of H7N9 studies released, including 2 papers published yesterday in the Journal Nature (see CIDRAP: Yesterday’s H7N9 Studies In Nature).
Dr. Ian Mackay, in his Virology Down Under blog, takes a good look at the two Nature studies, plus another that appeared recently in the journal Vaccine, and compares their findings.
Ian also discusses the CFR (and his preferred Proportion of Fatal Cases (PFC)) calculations, and the distribution of sialic acid receptor cells (a2,3 a2,6) in various influenza susceptible species.
