The MERS outbreak in Jeddah continues to expand with the announcement this afternoon of an additional four cases. Two (ages 58 & 71) are listed in stable condition, while two others (ages 26 & 39)  are reportedly asymptomatic.

Although the Jeddah cluster began more than two weeks ago, over the past 48 hours we’ve seen 10 new cases announced, bringing the total to over 20 cases.

Both asymptomatic cases and the 58 year-old in stable condition are described as working in the health care field. Despite constant calls for increased infection control protocols in regional hospitals, we continue to see an unusual number of Health Care Workers infected.
