Saudi MOH Report 10 New MERS Cases & 7 Fatal Outcomes

The Saudi MOH has announced 10 new cases spread across Riyadh, Jedda, and Taif along with 7 fatalities, all linked to previously announced cases.

The total number of the confirmed cases over the past 24 hours: 10 cases

Recovered and discharged cases that previously tested positive and are now negative: 5 cases

Total number of deaths from previously reported cases: 7 cases


Overview of the Health Status of the Cases:

• 5 cases have not developed any symptoms

• 4 stable cases

• 1 case in Intensive Care

Health situation of the cases in detail:

A. Riyadh:

  1. A 33-year-old woman, who was admitted to a private hospital. She has not developed any symptoms.
  2. A 62-year-old woman, who developed respiratory symptoms. She was admitted to a government hospital on May 8, 2014. Now, she is in stable condition.
  3. A 31-year-old woman, who has been in contact with a confirmed case and has not developed any symptoms.
  4. A 29-year-old man, who developed respiratory symptoms. He is in a stable condition. He has been in contact with a confirmed case.
  5. A 37-year-old woman, who was admitted to a government hospital on February 18, 2014. She suffered from respiratory symptoms on May 8, 2014. Now, she is in a stable condition.

B. Jeddah:

  1. A 26-year-old woman who developed respiratory symptoms on May 5, 2014. She was admitted to a private hospital on May 6, 2014. Now, she is in stable condition and is isolated at home.  She has been in contact with a confirmed case
  2. A 35-year-old man. He has been in contact with a confirmed case and has not developed any symptoms.
  3. A 26-year-old woman. She has been in contact with a confirmed case and has not developed any symptoms.
  4. A 34-year-old woman who developed respiratory symptoms on April 25, 2014. She suffered from Eclampsia and was admitted to a government hospital in Makkah on May 7, 2014. She was later transferred to a government hospital in Jeddah. She is now receiving IC treatment. May Allah grant her a speedy recovery.

D. Al Taif:

  1. A 33-year-old man, who has been in contact with a confirmed case and has not developed any symptom.

Deaths from previously reported cases:

  1. A 94-year-old man passed away on May 8, 2014.  He was previously recorded as a confirmed case in Jeddah. May Allah have mercy upon him.
  2. A 51-year-old man passed away on May 7, 2014.  He was previously recorded as a confirmed case in Jeddah. May Allah have mercy upon him.
  3. A 42-year-old man passed away on May 8, 2014.  He was previously recorded as a confirmed case in Jeddah. May Allah have mercy upon him.
  4. A 74-year-old man passed away on May 8, 2014.  He was previously recorded as a confirmed case in Taif. May Allah have mercy upon him.
  5. A 71-year-old woman passed away on May 8, 2014.  She was previously recorded as a confirmed case in Riyadh. May Allah have mercy upon her.
  6. An 81-year-old man passed away on May 8, 2014.  He was previously recorded as a confirmed case in Riyadh. May Allah have mercy upon him.
  7. A 25-year-old man passed away on May 8, 2014.  He was previously recorded as a confirmed Corona case in Riyadh. May Allah have mercy upon him.

Recovered and discharged cases that previously tested positive and are now negative:

  1. A 54-year-old man, who was discharged from a private hospital in Jeddah.
  2. A 19-year-old man, who was discharged from a private hospital in Jeddah.
  3. A 38-year-old man who was discharged from a government hospital in AlKharj.
  4. A 46-year-old man at a government hospital in Tabuk. He tested negative for MERS Corona virus and remained at hospital for other health reasons.
  5. A 10-year-old boy at a government hospital in Jeddah. He tested negative for MERS Corona virus and remained at hospital for other health reasons.
