The Saudi MOH has announced their 5th MERS case of 2015, although since they don’t provide onset dates (or even lab confirmation dates) it isn’t possible to tell from this report exactly when this person fell ill.
About all we know is that it is a 53-year old male with pre-existing medical problems who appears to have been exposed to the MERS coronavirus while at a local hospital.
Despite campaigns to increase vigilance and improve infection control measures in Saudi Hospitals, preventing the nosocomial spread of MERS remains a challenge.
