Saudi MOH Announces 1 Primary (Camel Contact) MERS Case
#11,640
After 9 days without a reported case, Saudi Arabia has announced a new MERS-CoV infection, this time in a 39 y.o. male from Al Kharj with a history of camel contact.
With the Hajj now less than 3 weeks off, this recent downturn in cases has been welcome news, although how long it will last is anyone's guess.
As we saw last May in ATS: Mass Gatherings And Lessons From The Hajj, MERS is just one of many public health concerns that must be planned for at these mass gathering events.
