The Saudi MOH has announced their 17th MERS case for the month of December, this time involving a 72 y.o. male in critical condition with recent direct contact with a camel.
Additionally, two recoveries are reported.
This brings the number of reported MERS cases in Saudi Arabia for the year to 225, which less than half the number reported in 2015 (n=460). Most of this decline appears to come from fewer large outbreaks in healthcare facilities in 2016.
