France: MOA Now Reporting 166 Farms Hit By H5N8

#12,148

Seven days ago France reported 129 farms had been affected by H5N8 avian influenza since the first week of December.   Today, that number rises to 166, a 28% increase in just a week, with roughly half of the new outbreaks appearing in Landes.
The extended prophylactic culling operations in Gers, Landes and the Haute-Pyrenees (see France Expands Preventative Culling As HPAI Outbreaks Continue To Rise) were reportedly nearing completion late last week.

In addition to these H5N8 outbreaks we've also seen a handful of of other HPAI detections, including H5N5 and H5N9, along with numerous Low Path (LPAI) subtypes over the past couple of months.
