Last month, after an absence of almost 3 years, Nepal reported a couple of small outbreaks of HPAI H5N1 in poultry (OIE Notication) and in wild birds (OIE Notication).
Today we are notified by the OIE of that country's first identified outbreak of HPAI H5N8, affecting a poultry operation in the southeast of the country.

Epidemiological comments
A total of 2550 birds, 412 eggs, 200kg of food, 2213 egg trays and 26 local hens have been destroyed and disposed of by the Rapid Response Team. Stamping out, cleaning and disinfection and sealing of infected premises have been completed. Post operative surveillance outside the containment area is ongoing.
