With the 14-day quarantine due to expire tomorrow, passengers and crew aboard the Diamond Princess continue to test positive for the novel coronavirus, with 88 new cases announced today.  Strikingly, more than 2/3rds of today's cases are listed as asymptomatic.
Since it isn't clear how long ago these asymptomatic cases were exposed, we don't know how many of them will go on to develop symptoms.
The percentage of positive test results in today's report has dropped to about 13%, probably because they are now testing mostly asymptomatic people without known contact with known cases.

We have the latest update, followed by an announcement on how passengers will be released from quarantine starting tomorrow.

About new coronavirus infectious disease confirmed in cruise ship during quarantine in Yokohama Port (the twelfth report)
The cruise ship Diamond Princess, which arrived at Yokohama Port on February 3, is undergoing quarantine at sea. A new coronavirus test was conducted, including those who are considered to be at high risk from the viewpoint of ensuring health due to long-term stay on board, including those with symptoms such as fever, and the results were found.
Of the 681 individuals, 88 (including 65 asymptomatic pathogen carriers) were confirmed to be positive for the new coronavirus. In the future, it will be transported to medical institutions with infectious disease wards. Positive cases were confirmed in 542 of the 2,404 patients tested (including 254 asymptomatic pathogen carriers).
Those who are transported include elderly people and foreign nationals, and it is necessary to take measures that take into account physical conditions. The press is requested to give special consideration to coverage of this matter.
Quarantine of the cruise ship continues to be implemented. A new coronavirus test is conducted for those who need it, and the results will be announced later.

It appears that passengers who test negative, and who are not symptomatic, will be allowed to disembark starting tomorrow. It isn't clear how long it will take to test the remaining 1300 people who are aboard, so this process could take a few days.

CONCERNING THE DISEMBARKATION OF CRUISE SHIP IN QUARANTINE AT PORT YOKOHAMA DUE TO END OF HEALTH OBSERVATION OF PASSENGERS OF THE CRUISE SHIP

The cruise ship "Diamond Princess," which arrived at Yokohama Port on February 3 and is currently undergoing dock quarantine, has been conducting health checks since the morning of February 5, asking all passengers to wait in their own rooms to avoid the spread of the disease. Some passengers, including those who had been on board at the arrival in Yokohama, who had been told that they needed medical treatment, had been infected with the new coronavirus, were older, or had an underlying disease, were forced to leave the vessel under the Quarantine Act No. 3 of Article 5.
On February 19th, based on Article 5 No.1 of the Quarantine Act, the chief of the quarantine station will be allowed to land in order and return to his daily life, as it is clear that the number of passengers who have been identified as "negative" by the virus examination after no symptoms such as fever and respiratory symptoms has passed and are not likely to be infected with the new coronavirus for 14 days, based on the fact that the WHO is supposed to be under the WHO health examination is for the 14 days.
