Japan MOH Adds 22 Domestic COVID-19 Cases In Last 24 Hours

Japans domestic COVID-19 case reports (excluding Diamond Princess cases)  are also on an upward trajectory, with 9 new cases reported on Thursday12 new cases reported yesterday, and 22 new cases reported today.

They are also reporting an airport quarantine officer has tested positive.
About new coronavirus infection (information provided)
One quarantine officer at the Chitose Airport Quarantine Station office of Otaru Quarantine Station was found to have been tested on February 19 because of a suspected coronavirus infection, and the positive was found on February 21.
The person has already been hospitalized and has started treatment.
We will ensure that we conduct proactive epidemiological surveys on this matter, including the understanding of the person scrutiny of the person in contact with the high-level contact.
Not only are we seeing an increase in the daily number of cases, we are also seeing a growing number of municipalities (7 yesterday, 10 today) reporting cases.

Outbreaks of patients related to the new coronavirus (92-113 cases)

Today (February 22), from Kumamoto City, Kumamoto Prefecture, Wakayama Prefecture, Chiba Prefecture, Hokkaido, Ishikawa Prefecture, Tokyo, Nagoya City, Tochigi Prefecture and Sagamihara City, the latest infectious diseases related to the new coronavirus have been reported. We report the following positive cases (22 patients, 2 asymptomatic pathogen carriers, and 3 confirmed positive cases (under investigation of the presence or absence of symptoms )) as follows.
With this announcement, there are 132 domestically infected people (113 patients, 16 asymptomatic pathogen carriers, 3 confirmed positive).
We will carry out proactive epidemiological investigations on this matter, including the identification of close contacts.

  • Ishikawa: 1 case of asymptomatic pathogen carrier (male in 10s)
  • Tokyo: 1 patient ( 106 cases: men in their 60s)
  • Nagoya City: 4 patients (107 cases: women in their 60s, 108 cases: women in their 40s, 109 cases: men in their 60s, 110 cases: men in their 60s)
  • Tochigi Prefecture: 1 patient (111 cases: women in their 60s)
