IRNA: Iran Barricading Cities - Closing Roads To Slow COVID-19

#15,044

For days Iran's MOH has been urging citizens to stay home, and not travel between cities, in an attempt to slow the spread of COVID-19.  Earlier today, we saw nearly 50% jump in cases over the past 24 hours, and the admission that in addition to 4747 confirmed cases they have nearly 16,000 additional hospitalized suspected cases.
Earlier today, in a televised news conference, Iran's Health Minister reportedly warned they might use force to prevent travel between cities.
A quick perusal of today's State run media IRNA (Islamic Republic News Agency) coverage of COVID-19 finds - in addition to numerous reports of rising case counts from around the country - several reports on blocked roads, and of shut-down and barricaded cities, all in a bid to prevent further inter-city spread of the virus.

A few (translated) examples:

Semnan's routes to the northern provinces were blocked
Semnan-IRNA-Semnan Provincial Police Chief said: All roads leading to northern provinces of Mazandaran and Golestan are blocked due to the spread of Corona virus to secondary information.

In a conversation with IRNA, Col. Taqi Kabiri added: Due to the spread of the Corona virus, routes leading to Mazandaran province including Shahmirzad to Kaiser, Semnan to Firouzkouh and Damghan to the bottleneck have been blocked.
He said: The axes leading to Golestan province of Shahroud were also closed for this reason.
Semnan Provincial Road Police Chief stated: Non-natives are not allowed to cross the border between Semnan province and Mazandaran and Golestan provinces and only natives of these provinces are allowed to travel to their province.
He said the decision was made to prevent the spread of coronary artery disease and to protect the health of both the provinces and the travelers and tourists themselves.

Deputy Governor: No accommodation in Yazd has the right to receive passengers

Yazd - IRNA - Political, Security and Social Deputy of Yazd Governor urged people in other provinces not to choose Yazd as a destination because no accommodation, hotel or hospitality has the right to receive passengers.

Ahmad Terhami told IRNA on Friday: "This decision has been taken in light of the critical situation in Yazd province in the outbreak of coronary heart disease and serious concerns about the exacerbation of this condition."
"All these places are excluded from the accommodation and accommodation of travelers and all historical sites, museums and tourist camps, holiday and accommodation centers, hotels, guesthouses, guesthouses and tourist camps," he said.
According to him, accommodation in traditional boats and guest houses and personal suites is also not possible, so do not choose Yazd as a destination for travel.
Rahimi stressed: Road police have also been ordered to impose traffic restrictions on access routes to Yazd province.
The lack of entry of non-native travelers and the control of the province's entrances is one of the demands of the authorities in Yazd.

Mashhad police blocked the entrance to Tarkhaba-Shandiz

Mashhad - IRNA - Binalood traffic police chief said: Restrictions and bans on traffic from Mashhad to Tarigha-Shandiz began a few minutes ago.

In a conversation with IRNA on Friday evening, Colonel Suleiman Izadi added: "Given the increased traffic on the Tarkhaba-Shandiz route, and with everyone's efforts to prevent the spread of the Corona virus, it was decided to apply this restriction until further notice."
He added: Accordingly, the Shandiz route from the entrance to Mashhad to the beginning of Fermiyeh Shandiz Boulevard as well as the Shandiz entrance from the Persian Gulf Bridge was blocked.
"The Mashhad-Shandiz road to the Chehelbeh River has also been blocked," said Binalood's traffic police chief.
Izadi added that the Mashhad-Tarragheba route was also blocked from the beginning of the entrance to Tarragheba and from the train area, preventing traffic.

This is a recommendation; please don't travel to Qom!

Qom-Irna - While many people in Qom indicate that they have not taken home stay recommendations seriously, intra-provincial travel is only banned in the Kahak sector and in other areas it is still optional.
An hour earlier, in a conversation with IRNA, the Prefect of Kahak announced that it would block entry and stop tourists and travelers to the gardens of Kahak from Friday, and the Laleh Gardens would be closed to prevent the spread of the Corona virus.
Abul Fazl al-Badrou added: "This decision covers all tourism villages in the area and will prevent tourists from entering tourist areas to control the spread of the corona virus."
He continued: "Traffic is not permitted for people who are originally from one village in Kahak district or part of their employment or place of residence is still in one of the villages in the district.
Prevention of non-indigenous travelers and tourists in the Qom province will be restricted to control the coronary disease until the normalization of the province's control over the virus, says the governor of the Qom Gulf region.
