Italy: 3858 COVID-19 Cases, 148 Deaths

#15,038

Italy's MOH has reported just under 800 new COVID-19 cases, and 40 additional deaths, over the past 24 hours bringing the nation's total to 3858 cases and 148 fatalities.
Italy is reporting the highest number of deaths outside of Mainland China - even higher than Iran (n=109) - producing an apparent mortality rate around  3.8%.
Exactly what accounts for this isn't clear, although it may be due to prioritizing testing of only the `sickest of the sick', leaving a large number of mild or moderate cases uncounted.  Regardless, the total number of fatalities is concerning.
