Japan MOH: 35 New Domestic COVID-19 Cases

Only two weeks ago, Japan's domestic COVID-19 case count - excluding the Diamond Princess cases - was 84 (70 symptomatic, 14 asymptomatic, and we were typically seeing 10 to 12 new cases each day.
In recent days we've seen a steady rise in the number of new cases (33 announced yesterday, and 35 today), which has resulted in more than a quadrupling of cases (n=348) over the past 14 days. 
We are also seeing cases in many communities, suggesting that despite their containment efforts, the virus is getting a better established in the population.


Outbreak of patients related to new type coronavirus (288-313 cases)

Today (March 5), from Shiga, Kyoto, Hyogo, Yamaguchi, Hokkaido, Kanagawa, Saitama, Tokyo, Wakayama, Aichi, Osaka and Tochigi prefectures, this new coronavirus We report 26 patients with related infections and 5 asymptomatic pathogen carriers as reported below.
With this announcement, the number of domestically infected people is 348 (313 patients, asymptomatic pathogen carriers 35).

In addition, one patient has been confirmed in airport quarantine so far, bringing the total to 349.
We will carry out proactive epidemiological investigations on this matter, including the identification of close contacts.
