While it pales in comparison to the triple-digit daily increases we've seen reported out of South Korea over the past few days, Japan continues to report newly identified infections in a number of locations across the country.
Yesterday they reported 8 new cases, while today that number has jumped to 20.
Since February 16th we've seen Japan's case count go from 40 to 167 (plus 19 asymptomatic cases); more than a quadrupling in just 10 days. Today Hokkaido, Tokyo, and Nagoya city reported the most cases.
Outbreaks of patients related to the new coronavirus (148-167 cases)
As of today (February 26), 20 patients with infectious disease associated with the new type of coronavirus and 2 asymptomatic pathogen carriers from Chiba, Hokkaido, Kanagawa, Osaka, Tokyo, Nagoya and Nagano prefectures The name has been reported as follows.
With this announcement, there will be 186 domestic infections (167 patients, 19 asymptomatic pathogen carriers).
Regarding this matter, we will carry out proactive epidemiological investigations, including the identification of close contacts.
