Japan MOH Reports 2nd & 3rd Domestic COVID-19 Deaths

Not quite two weeks ago, in Japan MOH: Details On 1st Coronavirus Death & Recently Confirmed Taxi Driver, we saw the first death among domestic (a.k.a not from the Diamond Princess) COVID-19 patients, involving a woman in her 80s. 

Today Japan announces two more deaths, both among elderly patients who have been hospitalized for a week or longer. 

About death of patient associated with new coronavirus
Today (February 26), Tokyo and Hokkaido reported cases of death related to this new type of coronavirus.
We will carry out proactive epidemiological investigations on this matter, including the identification of close contacts.

Patient 1 (2nd death in Japan)
(1) Age: 80s (56th in Japan)
(2) Gender: Male
(3) Place of residence: Tokyo
(4) Cause of death: Pneumonia

  • February 9 Sun Anorexia.
  • Feb. 13 He had a fever and was admitted to Tokyo Medical Institution A.
  • February 16 Respiratory condition worsened and tracheal intubation.
  • February 18 Positive PCR test. After that, he was transferred to Tokyo medical institution B and managed by ICU.
  • February 26 death confirmed. 
  • Action history: No travel history. No contact with confirmed positive.
Patient 2 (3rd death in Japan)
(1) Age: Not disclosed due to family intention (Elderly) (154 cases in Japan)
(2) Gender: Not disclosed due to family intention.
(3) Place of residence: Hokkaido
(4) Cause of death: Pneumonia
(5) Progress
  • February 16 Cough.
  • February 17 He was hospitalized with pneumonia.
  • February 25 Dies from viral pneumonia.
  • February 26 PCR test positive.
  • Action history: Under investigation.
