Japan MOH: 59 New Domestic COVID-19 Cases

#15,046

There have been questions raised over Japan's relatively low COVID-19 numbers, and complaints over the modest number of tests they have performed. Today it was announced that the Coronavirus test will now covered by Japan's national insurance, but it is uncertain how much of an impact that will have on surveillance.
Despite that, over the past 3 days Japan has posted new daily high totals of identified COVID-19 cases, with 33 on Wednesday, 35 yesterday, and jumping to 59 cases today (6 are asymptomatic).
While the numbers in hard hit Hokkaido have come down, both Osaka and Nagoya city are reporting double digit case counts today.
